This Sat the 16th of May, listen for the rattle and follow the vapor trail down Grafton St as Graffiti, Street Art, Beats and Rhymes explode from the back alley at 78 Grafton st, when The Upholstery, Tastey and Caffiend proudly unveil Cairns’ largest and most anticipated public art production, The Alley Project.
At 75m long and 4m high, this groundbreaking project brings together over 20 of the freshest North Queensland and National aerosol artists, including Phibs (Melb), Mr Mint, Geezer (Syd), Kronik, Shane, Lisp, Grubs, Jaz, Twisted, Nik ‘n’ Nac, Pesue, Lers, Achew to create Cairns’ largest public artwork and permanent legal graffiti wall.
Bringing the alley to life with beats n’ rhymes will be some of the North’s smoothest MCs, including Buttah + Vexed, FNA, Northward and Trenchwarfare (Dj Morphix) and hottest local DJs, Pauly 2x Miss Jodie, Martin Harris, and Lady Rach.
The event will also celebrate the grand opening of Cairns’s newest and coolest Coffee Bar, Caffiend.Situated in the alley, Caffiend is destined to become a cultural hotspot, brought to life by the dynamic and striking artwork surrounding it.
Not only will the Alley and its striking artwork become an integral part of Caffiends décor and visual identity, but will also become a well-known visual draw card for tourists, locals and commercial photographers alike, enhancing the ever evolving hive of fashion and food on Cairns’s trendy Grafton St, and creating a stunning visual landmark in the heart of Cairns for years to come.
